I see a lot of people that fall into the trap of believing what people say. People say a lot of things but is it actually true? History has taught us that many people do not even have your best interests at heart. They will say and do whatever it takes to get what they want from you. There are the people that go even further and take from you but act like they are giving to you and you are taking from them. Do not take them at face value.
Examples
Some people are truly frightening, they want to keep you confined and slowly drain you until you are just a shell of a human. Think about people that take care of parents for all their lives, sacrifice everything because they feel indebted. Then these people never go out and have a great a life of their own, they might have siblings that were free and you see the difference between them. If there are parents that will take the life out of their kids, there is no need to be naïve about what others would do if they saw the opportunity. How can you take a takers words at face value.
Think about the people saying that they have opportunities for you. They will lead you on but it’s up to you to actually see what they do rather than what they say. Bosses that say they have you set up for a promotion, say they’re going to train you on this or that. Then they never do, I’ve heard people say that they stuck in that dynamic because they took their bosses word at face value.
Think about politicians that say what gets them the most votes then never follow through. This is because people take them at face value and get swayed by how their emotions make them feel. Sometimes I wonder how could people be that stupid. I do not write for the stupid people unfortunately, I write for the people that want to do great things. Year after year if you take people at face value you will eventually get taken advantage of.
What to do
Pay attention to actions and what they actually do. If your friend tells you that if you lend them some money and they will give it back, question their history. Get some collateral like a bank. If you want to give them money, think that you will never get it back if you do not have any idea or history. You have to start collecting these examinations of the people that you interact with because you could never read someone’s mind 100%.
Body language is a great indicator of information, if you look at their micro expressions but some people have trained themselves to act well in those situation. That will only matter if you are interacting with people that have carefully crafted their image.
The whole point of this article is to pay close attention to what matters to people, what are their true desires. These are clues to what really motivates them. Look deeply and not only at face value.
