You emotions have the potential to take you off your path. It has potential to take away abilities to think clearly. Easier said than done, but directing that energy towards what really matter or what is useful to your life is an important skill to develop. Do not let others take way from you because they are are overly emotional.
You have to remember the bigger picture in order to avoid getting lost in your emotions. It’s easy to get lost in the emotions of others, because this is primal trait that is deeply ingrained for our survival. People that get overwhelmed easily are people that usually bring themselves down and never will be able to lead. Unless they change that is.
I’ve also noticed it’s these same people that tend to underestimate what goes into the work that other people create. Their limits are so low that they think everything that they do is some kind of over bearing task. They always seem to think that they are doing more than others. Their emotions lie to them. So they lie to themselves.
Choose Not to React
Reaction is a choice. You ever met someone that had to wait an hour because of Airplane delays. There are many choices you could make in that situation. I’m going to leave it at two choices.
The person thinks to themselves ” Oh I have a right to be angry” and chooses to go berserk at anybody that will listen to them. They choose to take their vengeance on those that also have no control. They allow themselves to feed their nervous system with emotions and release chemicals that make them feel like they are in control. Feeling that they are doing what they are supposed to do. I believe these types of people are no better than monkeys roaming the forest. These are the people that feed their demons to feel like they have more control. Then what happens is that they create cycles and patterns that cause destruction.
They might even be aware of their power to create destruction. These are the people that are always looking for someone to blame so they could take out their anger. Even if the anger and rage is not directed at people could actually do something. Think of angry people shouting at retail staff because their prices are high. How would a retail worker have any control of the prices in a multi-million dollar corporation.
Do not react. Be constructive.
Now there are people in that same situation that will see the environmental factors like the weather, delays on the plane and delays with maintenance and fueling. These delays are then compounded to make them wait and additional hour. They take a overview of the situation. They do not use the final results as a reason to feed their demons. By analyzing these reasons they see that they do not have control.
The interesting part is when people think like this they might find solutions to their issues for the future. For example if they needed to be somewhere at a certain time, they could contact the right person and state their situation. By doing so they potentially stop any other possible disruptions. They might of even started this process sooner and found another airline if they really needed to be somewhere.
Too much reactive emotions cloud future possibilities. Life is a process, these events chain together to lead to a future. It is our responsibility to make to see what happens and make use the information to make decisions that leads to better outcomes. No one else is going to do that for you.
The cycle of thoughts and emotions
Everyone needs to learn that emotions affect your thoughts and vice versa. When you think you have a reason to be angry you will eventually be angry. These thoughts will build until you eventually react in a way that is not helpful. These emotions and thought cycles, may create inner turmoil that may create weight on you conscious that may affect your entire life.
