Create the Image and Act

Create the Image and Act

What you believe about yourself is how other people will treat you. If you want to be a king, you should never act like a commoner. This does not mean that you should not treat people will respect and understanding. Having empathy is understanding people and knowing what they need and desire. People do want a leader that they feel is just like them, they want someone who cares and values them but they still want to be led.

So if you decide that you want to be a leader, then you should really be care to craft the image of an individual that people want to follow. If you want people to invest in you, you will have to convey that you are competent that you know what you doing and that they could trust you. You increase your competence by actually doing the work that needs to be done. No matter how much you study, you need to be able to do the job.

Part of getting opportunities is acting like you can get job done before you are even doing it. That’s why people say fake it until you make. You have to believe you have to power to deliver results.

I remember when I was a kid and I created an image of a “cool kid” to please my peers but this image was hard to keep up because it was not my nature. This cool kid did not care about grades and was too cool for school, this led to a lot of issues that affected my life prospects because I only cared about things that impressed this most people or that would get me the most attention. When I reflect I was using my mind to create an image of someone that was against my future self. It was a persona that was driven my instant gratification and long term survival.

After a few years this toxic pen was what I used to write my reality, this let to limiting beliefs and such. Luckily for me I was able to bounce back because I found my method for rewriting toxic patterns. The biggest lesson was that you have to define what you want and how you want people to act. You have to decide if you want to be king or a peasant.

I should highlight the fact that I did not have people in proximity that were able to show me the way, so I turned to the internet and reading books. It was a experiment that would build the foundation for the person I am today. This is why I write, I want to share the information that led to my transformation with people that might be the same place that was, in my case there was a lot of luck involved. The right book got in front my face at the right place, it was luck because the book was not intended for me. My mother as a kid bought the 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene for my step dad. He did not read it, I found it and made it my own. It took me 4 months to read it as Robert Greene is a Scholar and at 17 I barely read anything. But I got through it, I still have that copy sitting on my book shelve until this day it has been years(I never gave it back).

I’ve since then used knowledge as my tool to transform my life, through formal education, books, people and the internet.

I used knowledge to craft an image of the person I wanted to be then I allowed myself to be that person. Think what would that person do? Carry yourself like royalty and expect people to treat that way. Let them know there is a difference between you them, but always treat them with respect.

This article is part of my goal to write everyday for an hour and post it everyday. It may not be edited to my standards but the goal is create value and get content out everyday.
